Syncing SharePoint Sites with OneDrive
Prerequisites
- Ensure the OneDrive sync client is installed on your device. If not, download it from the Microsoft OneDrive website or contact IT for assistance.
- You must have access to the SharePoint site you wish to sync.
Syncing a SharePoint Site
Access the SharePoint Site:
Log in to the Magrock SharePoint portal using your Microsoft 365 credentials and navigate to the site containing the files you want to sync.
Navigate to the Document Library:
Open the document library or folder you wish to sync. This is typically under the Documents section of the site.
-
Click the Sync Button:
- At the top of the document library, click the Sync button.
- If prompted, allow your browser to open the OneDrive application.

Sign In (If Required):
The OneDrive client may prompt you to sign in with your Microsoft 365 account. Use your organisation email and password.
Confirm Sync Setup:
A confirmation window will appear showing the folder location where your SharePoint files will sync. You can either accept the default location or choose a new one.
-
Access Your Files Locally:
- Once syncing is complete, the SharePoint files will appear in File Explorer (Windows) under a folder named after the SharePoint site.
- You can now work on these files as if they were stored locally. Changes will automatically sync back to SharePoint.
Pausing or Stopping Sync
-
Pause Sync: Click the OneDrive cloud icon in your system tray or menu bar, select Pause Syncing, and choose the duration.
-
Stop Sync: Open the OneDrive settings, navigate to the Account tab, and select Stop Sync for the relevant site.
Troubleshooting
-
Sync Issues: If files are not syncing, ensure you have an active internet connection and sufficient storage space. Restarting the OneDrive client can often resolve issues.
-
Permissions: Verify that you have the necessary permissions to access the SharePoint site.
-
Contact IT Support: For unresolved issues, submit a ticket via FreshService or contact the IT department.
